The new satellite EPIRBs (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) were designed to provide global location and positive identification of transmitted distress signals originated from ship emergencies. Both comply with COSPAS/SARSAT class1 and class2 requirements T.001, 3rd issue, and fulfill IMO´s guidelines for the avoidance of false alerts as recommended in Resolution A.810(19) (separate test button, water contact switch as well as manual and automatic activation facilities).
