Contractor: PBP Enamor Sp. z o.o
Object: Radome installation
Date: 23 August 2008
The sandwitch type radome has been installed on Vilnius International Airport, Lithuania. It covers PSR / MSSR radars and works as a structural, weatherproof enclosure that protects the radar antenna against atmospheric factors (ice, freezing rain, wind etc.).
Sandwich radomes are rigid, self-supporting structures designed to provide outstanding electromagnetic performance for specific frequency bands. Standard windspeed design is 150 mph (240 km/hr).
The sandwich shell is constructed using highly developed composite materials (i.e., sophisticated cloth weaves, resins and foams) to optimize consistency and strength of the polygonal panels, which make up the whole construction providing minimal transmission loss.
